Mini Scissor Lift

How to Choose a Scissor Lift Size & Height

April 15, 2023

A scissor lift is a versatile piece of equipment that can make working at height safer and more efficient. Scissor lifts come in various sizes and heights, and choosing the right one for your job is essential to ensure the safety of your workers and the success of your project. In this blog, we will discuss how to choose a scissor lift size and height that will meet your specific needs.

Consider Your Work Environment:  The first step in selecting the right scissor lift size and height is to consider your work environment. The size and shape of the work area will determine the size and type of scissor lift you need. For example, if you are working in a narrow space, you may need a smaller lift that can maneuver in tight spaces. On the other hand, if you are working on a larger construction site, you may need a larger lift with a higher weight capacity.

Determine the Maximum Height You Need:  The next consideration is the maximum height you need the scissor lift to reach. You should select a lift that can safely reach the highest point you need to work at. When selecting a scissor lift height, it's important to take into account any obstacles that may be in the way. For example, if you are working indoors, you may need a lift that can fit through a standard doorway and also reach the required height.

Consider Weight Capacity:  Another important factor to consider when selecting a scissor lift is weight capacity. You should select a lift that can safely support the weight of all workers and equipment that will be on the lift. It's essential to ensure that the lift's weight capacity exceeds the combined weight of all the workers, tools, and materials that will be on the platform.

Choose the Right Platform Size:  The platform size of the scissor lift is another essential consideration. You need to select a platform size that is large enough to accommodate all workers and equipment but not so large that it is difficult to maneuver the lift at the location of the work. The platform should also be stable and have non-slip surfaces to prevent accidents and injuries.

Consider Power Sources:  When selecting a scissor lift, you will also need to consider the power source. Scissor lifts can be powered by electricity, gas or diesel. Your choice will depend on the specific needs of your job. Electric scissor lifts are ideal for indoor use, while gas or diesel-powered lifts are better suited for outdoor use.

Conclusion:  Choosing the right scissor lift size and height is essential to ensure the safety of your workers and the success of your project. You should consider your work environment, determine the maximum height you need, consider weight capacity, choose the right platform size, and consider the power source. By following these guidelines, you can select a scissor lift that will meet your specific needs and help you complete your project safely and efficiently.
